crappy town(s) where you’re the hero

A while back I was reading the news that the Firefly Online Big Damn Hero package will entitle you to have an adventure in said crappy town and earn a statue of yourself.  I loved that episode… but it got me to thinking.  In all the games I’ve played, I’ve been the hero in many a crappy town and I can only think of 3 examples where I got a statue.

  1. Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadow of Amn, if you jump through all the hoops in Trademeet.
  2. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.  One of the later main quests will give you a statue in Bruma.  I remember reloading to an earlier save and basically redoing the quest, when I found out exactly when your appearance was locked in for the statue so I could remove my stupid hat.  That hat did not deserve preserving for posterity.
  3. Dragon Age: Inquisition.  The Hero of Ferelden (from DA: Origins) gets a statue in Redcliffe.  It’s a generic griffin statue (representing the Wardens) but it’s definitely a statue.
I really need to start bothering to try and remove the UI for screenshots…

and… that’s all I can remember.  Any others? 🙂

I remember the Baldurs Gate one – it was an OMG moment for sure – but not the Oblivion one. I was a bit offended by the griffon statue in Redcliffe, I am the darned Queen after all, is that the best they can do? (And still the Queen of Ferelden in my heart, couldn’t really see myself as an Inquisitor despite very cute Cullen) But couldn’t think of any others. I did like when minstrels started singing The Dragonborn song in Skyrim, not exactly a statue but still a tribute of sorts. So all the towns / countries / worlds / planets I’ve saved and only 1 statue (and a sort of bigbird alike thing) to show for it – I’m feeling shortchanged. Arin

ah yeah the Oblivion one was really cool – it was like a 3d model of your character but all stony and lumpy and seem to remember bronzey. I was quite impressed 😀 and you know… having to go back to talk to Martin was no hardship… any excuse *cough*

I didn’t mind the DAI one as I suddenly thought of all the variations they’d have to take into account to actually get it looking like my character (she would *never* have worn *that* hat etc etc :)) but yes it’s generic but still …. a statue?! My Warden is off gallivanting around with Zevran somewhere so I guess they have more of an excuse for a generic statue in my case. One day… an elvhen Ferelden Queen 😛

oh been meaning to ask – are you doing multiplayer at all? been a bit wary of jumping in clueless with strangers – so I guess a) do you need an archer? (PC) or b) what’s it like? is it fairly noob-friendly? 🙂

Multiplayer? Maker no! Can’t make it down a ladder without falling off let alone hit anything – embarrassment factor would just be too high unless there is a role for some sort of inanimate object that hands out sandwiches. I could probably play a supply crate at a pinch. Actually not sure I have ever multiplayed anything.
Just downloading what looks like years of updates for Lotro, guess I might try to login tomorrow night for the thing.

😀 yeah I’ve been a bit worried about it for the same reason really – well if you ever fancy trying to duo it for giggles let me know (I’m currently doing a mage playthrough so theoretically have the knowledge for barrier healing but tbh I usually bring a 2nd mage along to do that so I can zap stuff instead :D)

will be trying to get onto lotro tomorrow too.
